On May 9th, S2AQUAcoLAB participated, in partnership with the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA), in guided visits to the Estação Piloto de Piscicultura de Olhão as part of the Open Day of the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
During the activity, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about some of the work carried out at the station, including examples related to aquaculture production, microalgae, larvae, and different marine organisms. Informational materials and small interactive activities about species produced at the Estação Piloto de Piscicultura de Olhão were also made available.
The initiative helped showcase the work developed within these facilities and promoted closer connections between science, aquaculture, and the community. Throughout the day, the space welcomed visitors of different ages in an informal and participatory environment.
The Open Day of the Ria Formosa Natural Park brought together several organisations and activities dedicated to the sea, the environment, and environmental awareness, promoting the value of this ecosystem and encouraging direct public engagement with different areas of research and conservation.
